Emily represents Roscommon on the Comhairle na nÓg National Executive

CCS student Emily Conlon, representing Roscommon on the Comhairle na nÓg National Executive, participated in a recent BREXIT consultation hosted by Minister for Children and Youth Affairs Katherine Zappone.   One representative from each of the 31 Comhairlí na nÓg is elected to the Comhairle na nÓg National Executive, which follows up on the recommendations from Dáil na nÓg to make changes for young people in those areas.

Emily and her peers on the National Executive took part in BREXIT consultation on January 30th in Croke Park, which was hosted to explore the impact of Brexit on the lives of children and young people. The seminar sought the views of children, young people and adults representing organisations that work with and on behalf of children and young people and discussed topics such as Travel, Democracy and Politics, Employment, Access to third level education in the UK, Trade, Tax And Regulation, Northern Ireland – Political And Daily Life Impacts, Discrimination, Racism And Xenophobia and Health Care following Britain’s recent exit from the Euro.

A report of the day’s discussions is currently being prepared for the Government.
