Outstanding Performance In The Leaving Cert 2023 Examination 2023.

Castlerea Community School recently welcomed back a number of students from the Leaving Cert Class of 2023 in order to recognise their outstanding performance in the Leaving Cert Examinations.

Students who achieved 500 points or more in the Leaving Cert were presented with bursaries to mark their achievement and to support them as they continue their education in a variety of third level institutions throughout the country.

The results were a testimony not only to the students’ academic ability and hard work, but also to their parents who supported their children throughout their years in school and who instilled in them an appreciation of learning and a positive work ethic. Much credit also goes to the teaching staff at Castlerea CS who equipped the students with the skills and preparation necessary to succeed and who worked so hard to deliver excellent teaching and learning.

All of the recipients were exemplary students throughout their time at CCS and had served as excellent role models to the younger student population. The students involved not only excelled academically, but had been involved in all facets of school life, participating in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities and contributing to the school community. An outstanding total of 11 students received bursaries in acknowledgement of having achieved 500 or more points in the Leaving Cert 2023.

As well as the presentation of bursaries to students who received 500 points or more in the Leaving Cert examinations, presentations were also made to a further three students in acknowledgement of their outstanding achievements in the Leaving Cert Applied programme. Both Ciarán Cahill and Shae Gaffney were recognised for having been selected to receive the national Fergal Quinn  award for LCA, while Megan McDonagh was also recognised for her excellent LCA results and having been selected for a place on the University of Galway Access Programme.

The presentation of bursaries to Leaving Cert students who achieve academic excellence is an annual event at Castlerea CS and this year’s bursaries and awards were presented at an event that was attended by the recipients of the awards, their parents and sponsors. The sponsors of this year’s bursaries were Harmac Medical, Lakeland Language Centre, Midlands Language Centre, Cahill’s Super Valu, Castlerea Celtic, Castlerea St. Kevin’s GAA, Noel Kelly Coaches, Corrib Oil and the Board of Management of Castlerea CS. We would like to thank all sponsors who have been extremely generous in their sponsorship of the bursaries. The students, parents and staff of Castlerea CS are extremely grateful for their support of the school and students and their ongoing commitment to academic excellence, in their sponsorship of the bursaries.
