0Cycling success for Richael Timothy
Congratulations to past pupil Richael Timothy who has qualified for the Paralympics in August as a para-cyclist. More recently she took part in the Para-Cycling Road World Championship where she did very well and she also won a World Championship medal in 2020. Richael is no stranger to success: while playing soccer in school she was selected to represent the Republic of Ireland at Under-15 and Under-17 level and went to Athlone IT on a soccer scholarship. She also played school, club and county Gaelic and was also an experienced basketball player winning numerous All-Ireland medals with CCS. She was forced to give all this up in 2016 due to an acquired brain injury. A couple of years later she took up cycling as a para cyclist and while relatively new to this sport her determination has payed off and her success to date is outstanding.
While training hard Richael found time to return to her Alma Mater to impart her cycling skills to our TY students in her role as Roscommon Sports Partnership Tutor.
We in CCS are very proud of Richael and wish her every success in her cycling career. We look forward to welcoming her back to CCS with an Olympic Medal in September.
