Opening School Mass

CCS Opening of the school year Mass September 2023

On Monday 18th September CCS gathered as a whole school community in St Patrick’s Church Castlerea to mark the opening of the school year with a celebration of the Eucharist. Throughout this occasion was student led with altar-servers, readers and a student choir beautifully enhancing the celebration of the Eucharist. The Choir had put in much practice in these busy opening weeks led by music teacher Ms. McNulty. Symbolic gifts representing the year ahead were brought forward at the beginning of the Mass including a candle – representing baptism, a school journal – representing learning, a school jersey – representing teamwork/sport and finally flowers – representing growth and joy. The readings and prayers were led by student representatives across all year groups. CCS are very grateful to Fr. Chris who celebrated the Eucharist for us for his encouraging words and for his ongoing support of our school community. May the academic year of 2023/24 be one that has in abundance – faith, hope and love.
