Catholic School Week

It has become a tradition now in Ireland that the week beginning the last days of January, first days of February is dedicated as Catholic schools week. Most students and staff in CCS attended Catholic Primary schools. On Friday afternoon February 3rd, students and staff took a 2min Focus time away from class work to reflect on this fact. As an inter-faith school community all members were invited to take this opportunity to think about, be grateful for and celebrate the tremendous contribution that catholic primary and post primary schools with a catholic ethos make not just to the education of young people in this area but to the development of our country and the entire world.

The theme of Catholic schools week 2017 was Caring for our common home the Earth”.

Teachers and students were invited to acknowledge that they have a unique opportunity in the teaching and learning of the classrooms to encourage personal growth, in mind and body, ease fear and prejudice, allowing each person to value themselves and care for the earth and its finite resources.

Finally a word of thanks was express to the student council members who represented CCS by participating along with the Primary schools of the Parish at the Mass celebrating Catholic school week which was held in the Parish church on Tuesday last.
