The Real U Programme
6th year students are now participating in the REAL U Programme.
The REAL U Programme is a personal development and sex education programme aimed at equipping young people with the skills, knowledge and confidence to develop healthy relationships and delay the onset of early sexual activity.
The programme is for young men and women aged between 12 and 17 years of age. Each programme is age appropriate and designed to suit the specific needs of the group. The Core sessions include the following topics: Introduction and needs assessment, Relationships and Communication, Reproduction, Emotional Well-Being and Understanding Boundaries. Additional modules may include topics such as Hygiene, Contraception and positive ways to deal with stress, alcohol and drugs etc.
The programme will be delivered by facilitators from the Neighbourhood Youth Project in Castlerea and will take place in school from 9th March to the 4th May 2017.
