PLC Graduation

The annual PLC Graduation for QQI Level 5 Community Health Services course took place on Friday 29th in CCS. This was an opportunity to recognise the achievement of last year’s students and give them the recognition they worked so hard for. The Guest of Honour on the evening was Ruth Larkin, a past pupil of the PLC class in CCS who has completed Early Childhood Care in Sligo IT and is planning to continue her studies next year.

This year the school decided to inaugurate an Outstanding Achievement  PLC Award. This Award is in memory of Mr. Damien Carty, RIP. who co-ordinated the PLC course for 14 years. The inaugural award criteria mirrored the values and beliefs of Mr. Carty. The criteria consisted of the following:- someone who has excellent attendance, excellent work ethic, someone who makes a positive contribution to the PLC Course and to school life, someone who is always kind, considerate, helpful and someone who has developed and matured as a person during the year. This year’s award was presented to Alanna Hanmore by Mrs Clare Carty, Damien’s mother. We were very fortunate to have members of Damien’s family join us on this special and memorable evening.

The music for the prayer service and entertainment on the night was provided by a number of students within the student body namely:- Sinead Gorham, Ciara Mulheir and Kianna Connell.

Out of all the students that graduated over 75% have gone onto further Third level education at the various Universities and IT’s throughout the country, and the remainder have gone into the workplace having gained invaluable experience on the course.

Castlerea Community School continues to provide this course and if you require further information please contact the school on 0949620177 or email school@castlereacs.com.
